Supported Living Manager
Internal Progress to Registered Manager
Before I started working at React, I worked in a nursing home as a Senior Support Worker. I then went on to work in a Supported living Care Agency as a field care supervisor.
I started working in React in August 2017. I initially started as a Deputy Manager at Cadoc House – our Stage 1 and 2 residential service.
Ever since I started working in care, I knew that I wanted to develop within this field and progress into management which I was fortunate enough to do. I have been lucky enough to work in each service in the company and learn about all the stages of recovery that we provide. I initially worked in Cadoc – stages 1 and 2, then St Johns and Gordon Road- stage 1 and eventually, Supported Living- stages 3 and 4.
Prior to starting at React, I gained QCF level 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care through work-based learning. Once at React, I completed QCF level 5 in Adults Management in Health and Social Care.
I joined the company as I wished to develop into a Manager’s role and to learn more about the mental health sector. I was fortunate enough to learn about Managers position when I was given the opportunity to be ‘acting Manager’ at Cadoc, I really enjoyed the challenge and was able to develop my skills which helped me understand the role. When a job opportunity came up for a registered Manager at St Johns, I applied and following my interview I was successful and was offered the position. I managed our St Johns service for about a year before moving on to manage our Supported Living service. The job as a Registered Manager can be very challenging but also rewarding at the same time, not every day is the same! We work with very complex individuals and seeing staff deliver such excellent service makes my job worthwhile.
